From Claims to Compliance: ISO 14060 and the Future of Net Zero
ISO 14060 — Net Zero Aligned Organizations — is set to become the first international standard that defines what a credible net zero claim actually requires.
Built on the ISO Net Zero Guidelines, IWA 42:2022, and now at the Draft International Standard, or DIS, stage, it moves net zero from voluntary guidance toward an assessable and verifiable framework.
Organizations will need to demonstrate that their strategy, targets, and implementation are aligned with the Paris Agreement — across Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions, and through implementation, not just target-setting.
This webinar recording walks through the DIS as it stands today: what the standard asks of an organization, how it builds on IWA 42 and connects to the wider ISO 14000 family, and where it raises the bar on carbon accounting, interim targets, and independent verification.
John Shideler, a U.S. expert on ISO/TC 207/SC 7 and an active commenter on the ISO 14060 draft, explains the thinking behind key provisions and what organizations should be doing now to prepare for a benchmark that will be externally assessable.
